Emplify Health by Bellin and Children’s Wisconsin new Children & Adolescent Center will open Aug. 26 in Ashwaubenon.
The clinic will provide care for newborns to young adults under age 22 in the Connected for Kids partnership between Emplify Health by Bellin, Children’s Wisconsin, and ThedaCare. The new center will provide pediatric primary care and 21 specialties for kids and teens.
Construction of the Emplify Health Children & Adolescent Center,, at 2550 S. Ashland Ave., started in February 2024. Bellin’s Adolescent Team and Children’s Wisconsin’s Ashwaubenon Clinic will both be housed at the facility to provide more comprehensive care and reduce travel times to different clinics. By housing all services in one spot, doctors will be able to coordinate care and provide more care in the Green Bay area.
“You can actually see up to nine different providers in one location and keep care closer to home,” said Jamie Hagenow-Sekora, Emplify Health by Bellin pediatrics specialties team leader.
The site has a life skills apartment with a kitchen and beds to teach young adults how to live independently. Emplify Health by Bellin will also have dietitians and mental health providers to run behavioral health and eating disorder programs.
The Children & Adolescent Center has the region’s first EOS machine, which provides low-radiation full body imaging of bone structure. The only other EOS machines in Wisconsin are in Madison and Milwaukee.
Kids can also check out the sensory room or all-abilities sensory gym in the center to decompress in between their appointments. The sensory spaces are designed to be accessible and have flexible lighting and furniture for patients.
In December, the center will start to offer a kitten scanner, where kids can perform their own MRI or CT scans on stuffed animals to get them comfortable with doing scans.
Some of Children’s Wisconsin’s spaces will be unique from its clinic in Appleton. Children’s will provide more renal services, a follow-up neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric cardiology, and hematology in Green Bay.
“We’re only about a half-hour from the Appleton clinic, but even that little bit of a half-hour means so much to the families,” said Katie Stanley, manager of ambulatory services at Children’s Wisconsin.
Bellin and Children’s Wisconsin will also provide the following specialties at the facility:
- Adolescent care
- Audiology
- Pediatrics
- Child life services
- Ear, nose, and throat
- Cardiology
- Diabetes education and endocrinology
- Fetal cardiology
- Gastroenterology
- General surgery
- Hematology
